So much happening, very little pro people

I’ve been thinking about a lot of things over the past few years. I have changed dramatically from the individual I was in my teens and young adulthood. I feel as if there is nobody listening to us, “We the People”. We are continually being told what is clearly false but expected not to object, in fact we are expected to accept lies as if they were the truth. According to many of our “leaders” truth is not an absolute but flexible on a sliding scale to the point we are told black is white and we are to believe this without any further thought.

My own personality has, in some respects, been remarkably consistent throughout my life. The simplest way to describe me is I am a challenge to authority. In years past, before I evolved past the “It is all your fault and there is nothing you can do to change things” subtle messaging we are programmed to respond with “acceptable” thoughts and actions. Never have been good with the predetermined expectations. I ask questions. “They” don’t like anyone questioning their agenda.

When in my teens and twenties, as an example, I was well programmed and believed that drug addicts were total losers. When I began looking into the matter I quickly became aware that, yes, some drug addicts are “losers” in every sense of the concept, however I evolved to thinking most addicts are reacting to difficult and painful (talk about serious understatement) issues in their lives. I discovered that many of the factors that lead to an individual choosing to become an addict are frequently totally outside of their control. The pressures to conform are immense and often it is easier, less painful, to choose addiction than try to resolve the issues.

Why? Because the system has been structured so as to make it nearly impossible for an average person to conquer their problems in a socially acceptable manner.

At this point in time I have many things I wish to communicate but have not yet figured out how to effectively do so. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. I’m thinking maybe chronologically but there are many problems with that approach. I’ll figure it out eventually and as this blog grows hopefully a clear sense of purpose will emerge. Part of the problem, from my perspective, is what I think and believe are my own, not others. When looking to persuade others of the validity of my ideas I have to remember it isn’t all about me. Ideas have power. That power can be used for “good” or “bad” depending entirely on how they are presented. I must respect those with different viewpoints, just as I expect my viewpoints will be respected. Sounds simple, it is not.

I look forward to your thoughts and ideas as we proceed. Please respect the guidelines regarding acceptable post comments. I intend to keep this a “friendly” site where personal attacks are not permitted. Discuss the ideas and not attacking or belittling the person proffering them.
